Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP), ComEd, & Nicor Home Improvement Incentives

If you've been considering energy efficient appliance updates, air sealing and insulating, LED lighting, a furnace/boiler, or other home renovations/improvements, check out your local utilities companies and Home Weatherization Assistance Programs. You may be eligible for rebates, instant discounts, or in some instances free services if you are income eligible.

This program offers eligible households energy efficiency upgrades in their residence. A comprehensive computerized whole house energy audit is conducted to determine which specific services are appropriate.

Eligibility

Households who qualify for LIHEAP are automatically eligible for Weatherization. Client must be a DuPage County resident. Income must not exceed 200% of the Federal poverty level. Individuals receiving SSI, Aid to the Aged Blind and Disabled (AABD) and TANF are automatically eligible. Effective Date: July 1, 2018

Energy Savings Measures Provided

Air sealing to reduce infiltration. Insulating walls and attics to recommended levels.

Weather-stripping exterior doors. Testing for safety and efficiency of furnace and water heaters. Installation of smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and other health and safety measures as necessary. LED light bulbs and smart power strip.

ComEd

Stay comfortable all year round and save money now with instant discounts for weatherization upgrades. You can receive up to $1,600 in instant discounts from ComEd and your natural gas company for qualifying projects when you use a ComEd Energy Efficiency Service Provider.

Customers that use electricity delivered by ComEd for the majority of their home's heating, or natural gas provided by Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas or North Shore Gas for the majority of their home's heating, may be eligible for the following rebates.

Rebate Process

Rebates for weatherization work are given to customers as an instant rebate at the time of installation by a ComEd Energy Efficiency Service Provider. Simply choose a Service Provider to get started.

Nicor Gas

High-efficiency products use less energy and can save you money. Rebates for energy efficiency upgrades are available to all current residential Nicor Gas customers. Participation is simple. Find a contractor. All products must be installed by a professional contractor unless noted. Air sealing, insulation and duct sealing work must be completed by approved contractors. Install new, qualifying products between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019. Apply within 90 days of installation or by January 31, 2020, whichever comes first, to receive the following rebates.
