Apprentice to Home Inspector/Energy Auditor

You will learn:

- Why homes don’t perform the way they were intended to - Fundamentals of building science necessary to diagnose issues - Understanding problems such as comfort, ice dams, mildew, and drafts - How to use diagnostic equipment - Identify opportunities to improve combustion safety, fresh air exchange, comfort, and efficiency


As an Inspector/Auditor Apprentice, you will help our consultants in the field by:

- Measuring and rendering homes - Assisting with inspections/ratings/consultations - Managing equipment - Data gathering and Report generation


You will also assist in training classes and other duties as needed – with the possibility of earning a certification yourself.


Preferred Experience in: Construction Management; Engineering; General Studies; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning; Industrial Systems Technology


Job Targets: Architecture; Building and Construction Trades and Technology; Construction Management; Home Inspections; Energy Rating

Other Job Requirements:


Ability to carry up to 50lbs of equipment and work in outdoor/attic environments. Demonstrated experience with SketchUp, as well as a strong working knowledge Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, Power point) Building industry experience and familiarity with the anatomy of homes. Strong organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


This is a Part-Time, Internship/Apprenticeship Position.


(~20/wk), during M-F 8-6pm


Job Types: Part-time, Internship


Salary: $12.00 /hour


Experience: Residential construction: 1 year (Preferred)


Education: High school or equivalent (Required)


Location: Lisle, IL (Required)


License: Driver's License (Required)
